WFC is a holding company whose subsidiaries are engaged in banking and a variety related businesses. For the six months ended 6/02, interest income fell 4% to $9.31 billion. Net interest income after loan provision rose 27% to $6.39 billion. Net income applicable to Common and before acct. change totaled $2.8 billion, up from $1.07 billion. Net interest income reflects lower earning assets, offset by lower interest expense. Net income reflects higher service charges.
