Business Description
Total System Services, Inc. (TSYS) provides electronic payment processing and related services, primarily to financial and non-financial institutions throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Honduras, the Caribbean and Europe. The Company's services include processing consumer, debit, commercial, stored value and retail cards, as well as student loan processing. TSYS also offers value-added products and services to support its core processing services, including risk management tools and techniques, revenue enhancement tools and customer retention programs, such as loyalty programs and bonus rewards. The Company operates principally through subsidiaries and joint ventures. As of January 1, 2004, TSYS had eight wholly owned subsidiaries operating in the United States and overseas. Synovus Financial Corp., a diverse financial services company, owns 81.1% of TSYS.

Financial Information
For the nine months ended 9/30/04, total revenues increased 14% to $879.9 million. Net income increased 6% to $107.6 million. Revenues benefitted from growth in the card portfolios of existing customers and the addition of new customers. Net income was partially offset reduced operating profit margins and higher interest expenses.
