Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (TDS) is a diversified telecommunications service company with wireless telephone and wireline telephone operations. As of December 31, 2003, TDS served approximately 5.5 million customers in 36 states, including 4,409,000 wireless telephone customers and 1,087,000 wireline telephone equivalent access lines. United States Cellular Corporation (U.S. Cellular) provided 74.8% of TDS' consolidated revenues and 52.8% of consolidated operating income in 2003. TDS Telecom provided 25.2% of consolidated revenues and 47.2% of consolidated operating income in 2003. TDS conducts substantially all of its wireless operations through U.S. Cellular.

Financial Information
For the nine months ended 9/30/04, revenues rose 9% to $2.77 billion. Net income from continuing operations before accounting changes and applicable to Common totaled $81.8 million, up from $33.9 million. Results reflect new U.S. Cellular subscribers and growth at TDS Telecom, and the absence of loss on impairment of intangible assets.
