TCF Financial Corporation is a holding company which conducts its business principally through its direct and indirect subsidiaries. The Company's principal subsidiary, TCF National Bank, operates in Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Colorado and Indiana. TCF's products include commercial, small business, consumer and residential mortgage loans and deposit products; leasing and equipment finance; securities brokerage and investment, and insurance services. Some of the Company's products, such as its commercial equipment loans and leases, are offered in markets outside areas served by TCF National Bank. The Company's primary focus is on the delivery of retail and commercial banking products in markets served by TCF National Bank.

Financial Information
For the nine months ended 9/30/04, interest income fell 7% to $459.4 million. Net interest income after LLP rose 1% to $358.5 million. Net income rose 20% to $187.6 million. Net interest income reflects lower loan volumes, offset by a decrease in deposit costs. Higher earnings reflect the absence of loss on debt termination.
