The Charles Schwab Corporation (CSC) engages in securities brokerage and related financial services. Through its four segments, the Company offers a broad range of products, services and advice offerings to address its clients' varying investment and financial needs. The Individual Investor segment includes the Company's domestic and international retail operations. The Institutional Investor segment provides custodial, trading and support services to independent investment managers, serves company 401(k) plan sponsors and third-party administrators, and supports company stock option plans and stock purchase programs. The Capital Markets segment provides trade execution services in Nasdaq, exchange-listed and other securities primarily to broker-dealers and institutional clients. The U.S. Trust segment provides investment and wealth management, fiduciary services, and private banking services to individual and institutional clients.

The Charles Schwab Corp. is a provider of securities brokerage and related financial services, including retail, telephone and Internet-based brokerage operations. For the six months ended 6/30/02, revenues fell 7% to $2.11 billion. Net income before extraordinary item rose from $78 million to $180 million. Results reflect a decrease in the number of client accounts and the average number of trades per account. Net income benefitted from $148 million less in merger, restructuring and other charges.
