SBC Communications Inc. is a holding company that, through its subsidiaries, provides communications services and products in the United States and has investments in more than 25 countries. The services and products that the Company offers vary by market, and include local exchange services, wireless communications, long-distance services, Internet services, telecommunications equipment and directory advertising and publishing. In the first quarter of 2004, SBC began offering satellite television services through its agreement with EchoStar Communications Corp. The Company offers its services and products to businesses and consumers, as well as other providers of telecommunications services. Its services and products are marketed under several brands including SBC, through Cingular Wireless, its joint venture with BellSouth Corporation, and SBC Yahoo!, its alliance with Yahoo!.

For the six months ended 6/04, revenues fell 1% to $20.44 billion. Net income before acct. change fell 19% to $3.11 billion. Results reflect increased competition and a weakened economy and higher selling, general and administrative expenses.
