Rohm and Haas Company is a global specialty materials company. In 2001, the Company operated four global businesses, namely Performance Polymers, Chemical Specialties, Electronic Materials and Salt. The Performance Polymers Segment includes the sale of coatings, adhesives and sealants, plastics additives, monomers and surface finishes. The Chemical Specialties Segment includes the sale of consumer and industrial specialties, inorganic and specialty solutions and ion exchange resins. The Electronic Materials Segment includes the sale of printed wiring board and electronic and industrial Finishes (through Shipley Ronal) and microelectronics (through Shipley Microelectronics and Rodel). The Salt Segment includes the sale consumer salt brands (Morton Salt and Windsor Salt), along with sales derived from other end-use markets, including water conditioning, highway ice control, food processing, chemical/industrial and agriculture.

Rohm and Haas is a manufacturer of specialty chemicals, plastic additives, coatings, adhesives and sealants, specialty polymers and monomers, products for electronic materials, and salt. For the six months ended 6/02, sales fell 5% to $2.84 billion. Net income from continuing operations and before acct. change and extraordinary item totaled $177 million vs. a loss of $160 million. Results reflect lower sales of Salt and Performance Chemicals, offset by improved gross margins and lower restructuring charges.
