The Company's income is derived principally from its utility subsidiaries: The Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company (Peoples Gas) and North Shore Gas Company. The Company also derives income from its other subsidiaries: Peoples District Energy Corporation, Peoples NGV Corp., Peoples Energy Resources Corp., Peoples Energy Services Corporation, Peoples Energy Ventures, LLC and Peoples Energy Production Company. The Company's business activities are segregated into six segments: Gas Distribution, Power Generation, Midstream Services, Retail Energy Services, Oil and Gas Production, and Other.

PGL is a holding company operating two wholly-owned natural gas utilities, The Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company and North Shore Gas Company. PGL also operates other energy related subsidiaries. For the nine months ended 6/02, revenues fell 41% to $1.25 billion. Net income before acct. change fell 21% to $87.4 million. Results reflect lower oil and natural gas prices and record setting warm weather, partially offset by improved operating margins.
