It provides dental equipment products, such as x-ray machines, high-and low-speed handpieces, dental chairs, dental handpiece control units, diagnostic equipment, sterilizers, dental lights, and compressors. Additionally, this segment develops and markets practice management and clinical software for dental professionals. It also provides custom hardware and networking solutions; patient education services; software services; equipment installation, repair, and maintenance; dental office layout and design services; and equipment financing. The Veterinary Supply segment offers consumable supplies, equipment, diagnostic supplies, biologicals, and pharmaceuticals for veterinary clinics in the eastern United States. The Rehabilitation Supply segment offers rehabilitation supplies and nonwheelchair assistive patient products to the physical and occupational therapy markets. The company was founded in 1877. It was formerly known as Patterson Dental Company and changed its name to Patterson Companies, Inc. in June 2004. Patterson is based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
