Business Description
Occidental Petroleum Corporation is a multinational organization whose principal business segments are oil and gas and chemical. The oil and gas segment explores for, develops, produces and markets crude oil and natural gas. The Company's domestic oil and gas operations are Elk Hills and other smaller locations in California, the Hugoton field in Kansas and Oklahoma, the Permian field in West Texas and New Mexico, and the Gulf of Mexico. International operations are located in Colombia, Ecuador, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. Occidental also has exploration interests in several other countries. The chemical segment manufactures and markets basic chemicals, vinyls and performance chemicals.

Financial Information
For the nine months ended 9/04, total revenues rose 20% to $8.4 billion. Net income before acctg. change rose 51% to $1.83 billion. Results reflect higher world wide crude oil and natural gas prices, increased crude oil volumes and a $41 million investment income.
