OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biotechnology company primarily focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of oncology products that both extend life and improve the quality-of-life for cancer patients worldwide. Its flagship product, Tarceva, is an oral, once-a-day, small molecule inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor (HER1/EGFR). On November 18, 2004, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the Company's new drug application (NDA) for monotherapy Tarceva use in the treatment of all non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who have failed at least one prior chemotherapy regimen. The Company launched Tarceva on November 22, 2004. Beyond Tarceva, the Company has a balanced pipeline of oncology drug candidates that includes signal transduction inhibitors, apoptosis inducers and a next-generation cytotoxic chemotherapy agent.

For the fiscal year ended 9/30/04, revenues increased 32% to $42.8 million. Net loss increased 44% to $260.4 million. Revenues reflect the inclusion of sales commissions and product sales. Net loss reflects the inclusion of a $24.6 million impairment of intangible asset charge.
