Business Description
Old Republic International Corporation is an insurance holding company with subsidiaries operating in four business segments: General Insurance, which provides property and liability insurance primarily to commercial clients; Mortgage Guaranty, which provides private mortgage insurance to protect mortgage lenders and investors from default related losses on residential mortgage loans; Title Insurance which involves the issuance of policies to real estate purchasers and investors based upon searches of the public records that contain information concerning interests in real property, and Life Insurance, which markets and writes consumer credit life and disability insurance. Each of these segments underwrites and services only those insurance coverages that may be written by it. The Company sells and distributes its products primary through independent insurance agents and brokers located across the United States and Canada.

Financial Information
For the nine months ended 9/30/04, revenues increased 6% to $2.57 billion. Net income decreased 3% to $334.5 million. Revenues reflect pricing and risk selection improvements, and increased mortgage financing and refinancing activity. Earnings were offset by increased underwriting expenses.
