Business Description
Owens-Illinois, Inc. through its subsidiaries, is an international manufacturer of packaging products and is a manufacturer of glass containers in North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. It is also a manufacturer of plastics packaging with operations in North America, South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Plastics packaging products it manufactures include consumer products (injection-molded containers and closures and dispensing systems) and prescription containers. The Company has two product segments: Glass Containers and Plastics Packaging. In October 2004, the Company sold its blow-molded plastic container operations in North America, South America and Europe to Graham Packaging Company, a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group.

Financial Information
For the nine months ended 9/30/04, revenues increased 19% to $4.48 billion. Net income applicable to Common from continuing operations totaled $174.3M, up from $45.9 million. Revenues reflect improved sales at the European glass container operations. Net income reflects an increase in gross profit margins.
