Business Description
National Semiconductor Corporation is a supplier of analog and mixed-signal products. The Company serves both broad-based markets, such as the industrial, communications, computing, consumer and automotive markets, and more narrowly defined markets, such as wireless handsets, liquid crystal display monitors, personal computers (PC) and high-definition televisions. The Company's analog and mixed-signal devices include operational and audio amplifiers, communication interface circuits, power monitors, converters and regulators, radio frequency integrated circuits, analog-to-digital converters and flat panel display drivers and signal processors. National Semiconductor's operations were organized in six groups: the Analog Group, the Displays and Wireless Group, the PC and Networking Group, the Custom Solutions Group, the Imaging Group and the Information Appliance Group, which was disbanded in fiscal year ended May 30, 2004. In September 2004, the Company sold its Imaging business.

Financial Information
For the 13 weeks ended 8/29/04, revenues increased 29% to $548 million. Net income before acctg. change totaled $117.7 million, up from $31.6 million. Revenues reflect higher unit volume sales in the Analog segment. Net income also reflects improved margins due to lower research and development cost.
