NiSource Inc., formerly known as NIPSCO Industries, Inc., is an energy holding company whose subsidiaries provide natural gas, electricity and other products and services to approximately 3.7 million customers located within a corridor that runs from the Gulf Coast through the Midwest to New England. The Company derives substantially all its revenues and earnings from the operating results of its 16 direct subsidiaries. NiSource operates six business segments: natural gas distribution operations, gas transmission and storage operations, electric operations, exploration and production operations, merchant operations and other.

Financial Information
NiSource Inc. is an energy/utility-based holding company providing electric energy, natural gas and water service to the public through seven subsidiaries. For the six months ended 6/30/02, revenues fell 37% to $3.58 billion. Net income from continuing operations and before acct'g change rose 57% to $262.7 million. Results reflect decreased gas distribution and merchant sales, offset by increased gross margins and a $23 million gain on the sale of property.
