Business Description
Newfield Exploration Company is an independent oil and gas company engaged in the exploration, development and acquisition of crude oil and natural gas properties. The Company's areas of operations include the Gulf of Mexico, the United States onshore Gulf Coast, the Anadarko and Arkoma Basins, China's Bohai Bay and the North Sea. As of December 31, 2003, Newfield had proved reserves of 1.32 trillion cubic feet of crude oil or condensate equivalent. Of those reserves, 83% were natural gas and 87% were proved developed. More than half of the Company's reserves are located onshore in the United States.
Financial Information
For the nine months ended 9/30/04, revenues increased 19% to $915.8 million. Net income from continuing operations before accounting change increased 30% to $221.9 million. Revenues reflect an increase in natural gas and oil production and higher prices. Net income also reflects an increase in gross profits due to the higher prices.
