National City Corporation is a financial holding company that provides a full range of banking and financial services to individuals and businesses, and operates more than 1,100 branch banking offices and over 1,600 automated teller machines (ATMs) in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Michigan. National City operates in six major lines of business: retail sales and distribution, wholesale banking, consumer finance, asset management, National City Mortgage and National Processing. National City Mortgage represents conforming mortgage banking activities conducted through the Company's wholly owned subsidiary, National City Mortgage Co. National Processing consists of merchant card processing and payment services conducted through National Processing, Inc., National City's 86%-owned subsidiary.

NCC is a regional bank holding company operating commercial banks with offices in OH, MI, PA, KY, IN, and IL. For the six months ended 6/30/02, interest income fell 11% to $2.94 billion. Net interest income after loan loss prov. rose 18% to $1.61 billion. Net income rose 23% to $838.9 million. Net interest income reflects decreased loans, offset by improved interest margins. Net income also reflects growth in mortgage banking revenues and a lower effective income tax rate.
