LSI Logic Corporation is engaged in the design, development and manufacture, and marketing of complex, high-performance integrated circuits (ICs) and storage systems. The Company is focused on four markets: communications, consumer products, storage components and storage systems. Its ICs are used in a range of communication devices, including devices used for wireless and broadband data networking applications. LSI also provides other types of IC products and board-level products for use in consumer applications, high-performance storage controllers and systems for storage area networks. The Company operates in two segments: the Semiconductor segment and the Storage Systems segment, in which it offers products and services for a variety of electronic systems applications. Its products are marketed to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that sell products targeted for applications in its major markets.

For the six months ended 6/30/04, revenues rose 15% to $900.3M. Net income totaled $16.3M, vs. a loss of $284.5 million. Revenues reflect an increased demand for semiconductors used in storage component applications. Earnings also reflect the absence of $160.2 million restructuring charges.
