Lafarge North America Inc. is a diversified supplier of aggregate, concrete and concrete products, cement and cement-related products, gypsum drywall, and other construction materials in North America. The Company's products are used in the construction of such projects as roads, offices, factories, hospitals, department stores, sports stadiums, banks, museums, high-rise apartments, amusement parks, swimming pools and bridges. In 2003, Lafarge shipped 118.9 million tons of aggregate, 11 million cubic yards of ready-mixed concrete, 13.2 million tons of cement, 3.1 million tons of cement-related products and 2.1 billion square feet of gypsum drywall. The Company is part of the Lafarge Group, a global supplier of building materials, which includes Lafarge S.A. and its consolidated subsidiaries. Lafarge S.A. and its affiliates hold approximately 53% of the Company's common stock.

Financial Information
For the nine months ended 9/30/04, net sales rose 13% to $2.76 billion. Net income from continuing operations and before acct. change rose 32% to $196.8 million. Results reflect increased construction activity, and lower minority interest and higher margins.
