Jefferson-Pilot Corporation is the holding company of Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company, Jefferson Pilot Financial Insurance Company, Jefferson Pilot LifeAmerica Insurance Company, Jefferson Pilot Securities Corporation, and Jefferson-Pilot Communications Company. Through these and other subsidiaries, the Company primarily engages in the business of writing life insurance policies, writing annuity policies and selling other investment products, writing group life, disability income and dental policies, operating radio and television facilities, and producing sports programming.

JP offers individual and group life insurance, annuities, and investments; and also operates radio and television broadcast properties. For the six months ended 6/30/02, revenues rose 5% to $1.76 billion. Net income applicable to Common and before accntg. change fell 6% to $265 million. Revenues reflect growth at Individual Products and Benefit Partners due to the Guarantee acquisition. Net income was offset by higher insurance and annuity benefit expenses.
