Hospira, Inc. is a specialty pharmaceuticals and medication delivery company that develops,manufactures and markets products that help improve the safety and effectiveness of patient care. Its three business groups are medication delivery systems and critical care devices; specialty injectable pharmaceuticals, and injectable pharmaceutical custom manufacturing services. Medication delivery systems include electronic drug delivery pumps for intravenous drug delivery and patient-controlled analgesia for pain management, and infusion therapy solutions and supplies. The Company's critical care devices are used in intensive care and critical care units to measure cardiac output and blood flow. Hospira's specialty injectable pharmaceuticals offer more than 100 injectable products in more than 600 dosages and formulations. Hospira's One 2 One Global Manufacturing Services group is engaged in custom manufacturing services for formulation development, filling and finishing of injectable drugs.

Financial Information
For the six months ended 6/30/04, net sales increased less than 1% to $1.29 billion. Net income increased 42% to $190.8 million. Net sales reflect higher sales in Medication Delivery Systems. Higher net income reflects a $64.6 million gain on curtailment of post-retirement medical and dental benefits.
