Georgia-Pacific Company is engaged in the manufacture of tissue products (including bath tissue, paper towels and napkins) and disposable tabletop products (including disposable cups, plates and cutlery); the manufacture of containerboard and packaging (including linerboard, medium, kraft and corrugated packaging); the manufacture of bleached pulp and paper (including paper, market and fluff pulp, and bleached board) and the distribution of paper products and supplies manufactured by the Company or purchased from others; and the manufacture and distribution of building products (including plywood, oriented strand board, various industrial wood products, and softwood and hardwood lumber, as well as certain non-wood products including gypsum board, chemicals and other products). Georgia-Pacific operates its production facilities in four operating segments: Consumer Products, Packaging, Bleached Pulp and Paper, and Building Products.

Georgia-Pacific is a manufacturer and distributor of building products as well as a producer of a variety of pulp and paper products (including pulp, communication papers, containerboard, packaging and tissue products). For the six months ended 6/30/02, net sales fell 7% to $12.02 billion. Net loss from continuing operations before acct. change and extraordinary item fell 79% to $22 million. Results reflect the sale of four paper mills, offset by lower interest and amortization costs.
