Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. develops, licenses, markets and distributes technologies, products and services targeted at the television guidance and home entertainment needs of consumers worldwide. The Company's interactive program guidance technologies are incorporated into television sets, videocassette recorders, digital versatile disk recorders, digital video recorders, personal computers and cable and satellite television set-top boxes. In addition to its interactive program guidance technologies, Gemstar owns and publishes the TV Guide magazine and operates the Website www.tvguide.com. The Company also owns and produces original programming in the form of the TV Guide Channel, which offers editorial content and television listings directly on consumers' television screens, and TVG Network, which provides horseracing programming and interactive wagering services. Gemstar sells or provides this programming to owners and operators of cable and satellite television systems.

Financial Information
For the six months ended 6/30/04, revenues rose 4% to $374.3M. Net income from continuing operations totaled $27.8 million, vs. a loss of $79.3M. Revenues reflect technology licenses completed with Comcast, Time Warner, DirectTV, and Echostar. Net income also reflects reduced stock compensation costs and fewer amortization expenses.
