General Mills, Inc. is a producer of packaged consumer foods and operates exclusively in the consumer foods industry. The Company operates three business segments: U.S. Retail, Bakeries and Foodservice and International. U.S. Retail consists of cereals, meals, refrigerated and frozen dough products, baking products, snacks, yogurt and health venture activities. The Bakeries and Foodservice segment consists of products marketed to retail and wholesale bakeries and offered to the commercial and non-commercial foodservice sectors throughout the United States and Canada, such as restaurants and school cafeterias. The International segment is made up of retail business outside the United States and foodservice business outside of the United States and Canada.

For the 13 weeks ended 8/25/02, sales rose 68% to $2.36 billion. Net income before acct. change fell 8% to $176 million. Results reflect the acquisition of Pillsbury and a 2% increase in comparable unit volume, offset by increased unusual items.
