Business Description
Entergy Corporation, through its subsidiaries, engages principally in the following businesses: domestic utility, domestic non-utility nuclear and energy commodity services. The Domestic Utility business is comprised of five wholly owned domestic retail electric utility subsidiaries: Entergy Arkansas, Entergy Gulf States, Entergy Louisiana, Entergy Mississippi and Entergy New Orleans. As of December 31, 2001, these utility companies provided retail electric service to approximately 2.6 million customers in portions of the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The Domestic Non-Utility Nuclear business is focused on acquiring, owning, operating and selling power from nuclear power plants, and providing operations and management services to nuclear power plants owned by other utilities in the United States. The Energy Commodity Services segment is engaged in the power marketing and trading business.

For the six months ended 6/30/02, total revenues fell 23% to $3.96 billion. Net income applicable to Common fell 59% to $162.7 million. Results reflect lower revenues from competitive businesses and $419.5 million of turbine commitment and asset impairment charges.
