EchoStar Communications operates through two business units, the DISH Network and EchoStar Technologies Corporation. The DISH Network offers a direct broadcast satellite subscription television service in the United States. As of December 31, 2001, the Company had approximately 6.83 million DISH Network subscribers. EchoStar Technologies Corporation is engaged in the design, development, distribution and sale of DBS set-top boxes, antennae and other digital equipment for the DISH Network and the design, development and distribution of similar equipment for international satellite service providers.

Financial Information
EchoStar provides direct broadcast satellite (DBS) programming services and products such as DBS set-top boxes, antennae and other equipment. DISH also provides turn-key delivery of video, audio and data services. For the six months ended 6/30/02, revenues rose 24% to $2.27 billion. Net loss applicable to Common fell 66% to $66 million. Revenues reflect increased DISH Network subscribers growth and increased revenue per subscriber. Lower loss reflects increased gross margins.
