Centerpoint Energy, Inc. is a public utility holding company that became the parent of Reliant Energy, Incorporated and its subsidiaries as part of a corporate restructuring of Reliant Energy. The Company's indirect wholly owned operating subsidiaries own and operate electric transmission and distribution facilities, natural gas distribution facilities and natural gas pipelines. The Company's subsidiary, Texas Genco Holdings, Inc., operates electric generation plants. The Company's indirect wholly owned subsidiaries include CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC and CenterPoint Energy Resources Corp. (CERC). Through wholly owned subsidiaries, CERC also owns two interstate natural gas pipelines and gas gathering systems and provides various ancillary services. The Company also has an approximately 81% ownership interest in Texas Genco, which owns and operates the Texas generating plants that were formerly part of the integrated electric utility that was part of Reliant Energy.

CenterPoint Energy, Inc. is an electricity and natural gas delivery company with almost five million metered customers. For the three months ended 3/31/03, revenues increased 40% to $2.90 billion. Net income from continuing operations before accounting change decreased 44% to $80.938 million. Revenues reflect an increase in natural gas distribution revenues. Net income was offset by an increase in fuel and cost of gas sold.
