Business Description
Cabot Corporation manufactures and sells carbon black, fumed metal oxides, inkjet colorants, tantalum and related products and cesium formate drilling fluids. The Company is organized into three business segments: the Chemical, Supermetals and Specialty Fluids. The Chemical segment is primarily comprised of the carbon black, fumed metal oxides, inkjet colorants and aerogels product lines. The Supermetals segment produces tantalum, niobium and their alloys for the electronic materials and refractory metals industries. The Specialty Fluids segment produces cesium formate as a drilling and completion fluid for use in high-pressure and high-temperature oil and gas well operations.

Financial Information
For the nine months ended 6/04, revenues rose 7% to $1.44 billion. Net income applicable to Common and from continuing operations totaled $107 million, up from $49 million. Results reflect increased demand from the Chemical and Specialty Fluids Businesses, the favorable exchange rate and reduced operating costs incurred.
