BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. is a warehouse club operator in the eastern United States. During the fiscal year ended January 31, 2004 (fiscal 2003), the Company operated 150 warehouse clubs in 16 states, of which 92 are leased under long-term leases and 48 are owned. The Company operated 132 warehouse clubs that averaged approximately 112,000 square feet and 18 smaller format warehouse clubs that averaged approximately 71,000 square feet. The smaller format clubs are designed to serve markets whose population is not sufficient to support a full-sized warehouse club. The smaller version requires approximately eight acres. A full-sized BJ's club requires nine to eleven acres of land, including space for parking. The Company's clubs are located in freestanding locations and shopping centers. BJ's items that are offered in each product line includes fast selling styles, sizes and colors, carrying an average of approximately 6,500 active stockkeeping units (SKUs).

Financial Information
For the 39 weeks ended 10/30/04, total revenues rose 11% to $5.32 billion. Net income from continuing operations before acct. change increased 25% to $69.5 million. Revenues reflect the additional stores and gasoline station sales and higher comparable store sales. Net income for the period also reflects the decrease in preopening expenses.
