The Company also conducts significant non-United States operations through subsidiaries.

American Standard manufactures high quality, brand name air conditioning systems, bathroom and kitchen fixtures and fittings and braking systems for vehicles. For the six months ended 6/30/02, revenues rose less than 1% to $3.85 billion. Net income fell 1% to $183.1 million. Revenues reflect higher sales from the Plumbing Products and Vehicle Control Systems segments. Earnings were offset by lower gross margins and higher operating expenses as a percentage of sales.
